Bitmap Sunset is a long-running project that visualizes Bitcoin block data as a 3D landscape. The latest version accessible via Atlas OS transforms block heights, transaction counts and other metrics into a stunning terrain—bars rising like skyscrapers across a sunset-lit world. It’s a mesmerizing and educational way to see block activity and has inspired early adopters of the Bitmap standard.

However, the interface is still bare-bones; there’s no legend explaining what each bar represents, and there are few interactive controls beyond moving the camera. I appreciate that the developers are working to add build features, but for now it’s more of a tech demo. Tooltips, a guide and the ability to load specific blocks would make it more useful for everyday users.
